| halewood junior football league | halewood junior football league was formed in 1974, by a group of residents who had moved to halewood from liverpool in the mid sixties most from bad housing.
halewood had hundreds of young families, but no facilities such as shops or recreation.
halewood town council let the league use barncroft field, but the league had to mark all the pitches
with out any consultation the league were forced off barncroft field in 1998 and had to pick goal footings out of way of bulldozers who had moved on to the site to build halewood sports centre.
the league kept going at abberley road halewood (fredrick lunt field) under horrific conditions, were our only facilities were 3 rusty containers, leaking, no water, no electricity, no toilets.
only the determination of the league committee kept the league together,
when the new sports centre was finished low and behold only space for two pitches were once we had eight.
but with the help of the present halewood town council, the league, will move to its new home at, arncliffe sports centre halewood in september 07
were our young people will have the opportunity to take part in organised football, with good changing facilities, and playing surface to match
any grounds.
